Family Planning

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit a contraceptive pill review, please use our Contraceptive Pill Review form.

We have a practice nurse with a special interest in family planning and the practice offers a range of contraceptive services. For those patients who would like a coil fitted, you must see the GP first prior to making an appointment for a fitting.

All aspects of family planning can be discussed, and your partner may also be present if you wish. You may also see a doctor by appointment if you wish. Please note that condoms are not available on prescription.

Immunisations

Travel Vaccinations

You must make an appointment to see the practice nurse at least eight weeks prior to travel to discuss which vaccines you need.

Please remember there are different schedules for different vaccines, so make sure you allow enough time prior to travel. We will do our best to accommodate your needs but if we are short of appointment slots, or you have not left adequate time to make an appointment prior to travel then you may have to attend a private travel clinic.

Influenza Vaccines

We recommend these for anyone over the age of 65 years and for all patients at risk with diabetes, heart, liver and lung disease and those on radiotherapy, chemotherapy or other immunosuppressive therapy. Please contact the surgery in September to find out when the clinics will be.

Diabetic Clinic

The diabetic clinic is held weekly with a practice nurse. If you are diagnosed with diabetes and it is appropriate for you to attend the clinic, you will be offered an appointment.

Coronary Heart Disease Clinic

This clinic is held with the practice nurse. If you are diagnosed with a risk of CHD then you will be invited to attend.

Respiratory Disease Clinic

If you have been advised by the surgery to submit a COPD assessment, please use our COPD Assessment form.

This clinic is held with the practice nurse. If you are diagnosed with asthma/COPD then you will be invited to attend this clinic.

Phlebotomy (Blood Tests)

The phlebotomist will take your blood for sending to the hospital and is also qualified to do blood pressure and weight checks if the nurse or GP has asked you to get a check.
